Opium is a 1920’s Shanghai themed cocktail bar and Dim Sum parlour located in the heart of Chinatown. The venue is split across two floors and there are three different bars within the venue. All three bars have their own signature cocktail menu and you are able to order the same Dim Sum throughout the venue and also eat by each bar as well.
On our second floor, we have our Apothecary bar (which includes our Tea Parlour section) with medicinal bottles adorning the bar and our bartenders serving cocktails from the Feng Shui and Tonic & Remedy menus. Our secret, hidden Peony bar is also located behind the red curtains on the second floor and is our smallest, more intimate bar. The main menu focuses on a map of China, with each cocktails influenced by several major cities in China. The space is also perfect for private functions accommodating up to 30 people seated and standing.
On our top floor, we have our Academy bar which has a slightly more lounge type feel. The floor is split between the Attic side which has quirky booths, armchairs and lower table to the Academy side where we have higher tables and stools and also our signature Bartender’s table (a kitchen-esque influenced bar where you can watch our bartender’s make and shake your cocktails). The new menu theme focuses on a Chinese take-away style menu as well as Opium Classic cocktails.
If you were looking to visit Opium, please do select which bar you would like to join us at. Additional information about each bar can be found under bars and menus.
We are located up two flights of stairs and bookings are highly recommend although walk ins are also accepted on the evening.
Please be aware that our tables are normally allocated for two hours unless stated otherwise and we only hold tables for 15 minutes, after which we do give the table away.
We kindly ask our guests not to wear flip flops or sports attire when joining us and we are unable to accept any underaged persons into the venue.
